Abstract

This paper explores the Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā as a practical philosophy of life that transcends its identity as a religious scripture and serves as a universal guide for ethical living, decision-making, and meaningful action. Situated within the narrative of the Mahabharata, the dialogue between Arjuna and Krishna symbolizes the timeless human dilemma of duty, morality, and emotional conflict. The study highlights key philosophical concepts such as nishkāma karma (selfless action), dharma (righteous duty), ātman (the eternal self), and samatva (equanimity), demonstrating their relevance in contemporary contexts including education, leadership, mental health, workplace ethics, and social responsibility.

The paper further examines how the Gita provides a framework for emotional regulation, resilience, and ethical clarity in a rapidly changing and competitive world. By integrating thought, emotion, and action, it offers practical strategies for handling stress, conflict, and moral ambiguity. The dialogical style of the text enhances its accessibility, making philosophical insights relatable and applicable to everyday life. The study concludes that the Bhagavad Gītā remains a living and dynamic philosophy that promotes inner stability, responsible action, and holistic development, thereby contributing to individual well-being and societal harmony.                  Keywords: Bhagavad Gītā, Nishkāma Karma, Dharma, Practical Philosophy, Ethical Living, Emotional Regulation, Leadership and Ethics, Mental Health, Self-realization, Indian Knowledge System (IKS)
